Here are some of the more frequently asked questions that we get asked about website design for writers.
How long does it take to design a website?
If we have all the information we need (text, photographs, graphics etc.) we can produce your website in two or three days. However, clients usually want time to review their site, and it can time to gather the content. A more typical timescale would be two to three weeks.
Can I update my website myself?
If this is very important to you, we can design sites that are updatable by the owner. However, this adds considerably to the cost of your site, and requires some computing ability (and plenty of time and patience). It is usually much quicker and more cost effective for us to do the updating for you. All you need to do is email us your updates, and will will do the hard work quickly and efficiently.
I already have a domain name and hosting arranged - can your still design a website for me?
We prefer to use our own host, as we know the systems involved. If you already have hosting arranged, we will review your host system and assess if it is worth transferring to our host. Since our hosting is free for year one, it will not cost you anything extra. In addition, our hosting fees are very competitive - so you may find you are better off using our hosting service anyway.
Is it better to have a .co.uk or a .com domain name?
It's your choice really. .com names are considered global domain names and are the names of choice for individuals and businesses who have a global focus. .co.uk names indicate a UK bias and are used by people who do not need a global identity and prefer to be associated with the UK.
